02 · Definition

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in the visitor’s browser to remember information between pages or visits, for example the selected language or an active login session. By duration, they may be session cookies (deleted when you close the browser) or persistent cookies (kept for a set period); by origin, first-party (set by this site) or third-party (set by an external service the site uses).

By purpose, cookies are usually classified as technical or functional (necessary for the site to work properly), analytics (which measure how the site is used) and advertising (which profile users to show them ads). This website does not use advertising or profiling cookies.

03 · Cookies in use

The cookies this website actually uses

maraltda.com is an informational, institutional website: it has no e-commerce, offers no user registration or accounts, and has no open comments. As a result, a regular visitor’s browsing generates very few cookies. Those that may actually be set are the following.

Language cookie (first-party, functional). The site is bilingual (Spanish/English) and uses a cookie named pll_language to remember the language you selected and display it on your next visit. It does not identify you personally or track your browsing.

WordPress technical cookies (first-party, functional). The platform the site is built on sets session and authentication cookies only when someone logs in to the administration panel, that is, MARA Limitada’s authorized staff. Regular visitors do not receive these cookies.

Cloudflare technical cookies (third-party, functional). The site is delivered through Cloudflare, a security and performance provider, which may set strictly technical cookies to protect the site from malicious traffic and to distinguish legitimate visitors from automated bots. These cookies serve a security function and are not used for advertising.

04 · Analytics

Web analytics: what we measure and how to opt out

Since October 20, 2026, the site has used Google Analytics 4, a Google LLC service, to learn, in aggregate, how many people visit it, from which countries, which sections they view and how many contact us through the form, WhatsApp, phone or email. We do not use it for advertising: advertising features and Google signals are disabled, and we do not measure MARA staff who are logged in.

Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies on this site: _ga, which distinguishes visitors anonymously, and _ga_11C638HP89, which maintains the session state; both last up to two years. According to Google, Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. These cookies are not set for visitors from the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland.

If you prefer that we not measure your visits, use this button: your preference is stored in your browser and the Google Analytics cookies are deleted. We also honor your browser’s Global Privacy Control signal and the official Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

On the contact page, the Google Maps map loads only if you click “Show the map here”. When you do, Google may set its own cookies, in accordance with its privacy policy.

05 · Browser settings

How to manage or disable cookies in your browser

You can block or delete this site’s cookies at any time in your browser settings. The usual paths are: in Google Chrome, Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies and Site data; in Mozilla Firefox, Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data; in Microsoft Edge, Settings → Cookies and site permissions; in Safari, Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data. Every browser also offers a private browsing mode that deletes cookies when the window is closed.

Disabling this site’s cookies does not prevent you from browsing it. The only practical effect is that the site will not remember your language preference between visits and you will need to select it again.

06 · Legal framework

Applicable legal framework in Colombia

We want to be clear: Colombia has no law that specifically regulates cookies, unlike other jurisdictions. What does exist is the general personal data protection regime: Statutory Law 1581 of 2012 and its implementing Decree 1377 of 2013 (compiled in Single Decree 1074 of 2015). That regime applies to cookies only when they are used to collect data that can identify a person.

Any personal data that might be collected through cookies will be processed in accordance with our Personal Data Processing Policy, which sets out the purposes of processing, your rights as a data subject (to know, update, rectify and delete your data, to request proof of your authorization, to revoke it, and to access your data free of charge, under Article 8 of Law 1581 of 2012) and the procedure for exercising them.

The statutory time limits are as follows: inquiries are answered within a maximum of ten (10) business days, extendable by five (5) additional business days upon notice to you of the reason and the new response date; claims, within a maximum of fifteen (15) business days, extendable by eight (8) additional business days under the same conditions (Articles 14 and 15, Law 1581 of 2012). If, after completing the direct procedure with MARA Limitada, you receive no response or are not satisfied with it, you may file a complaint with the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC), Colombia’s data protection authority, attaching a copy of the prior claim (Article 16, Law 1581 of 2012). The channel for exercising these rights is protected email.
